Gen Z . Gen X. Gen Whatever. Move over. You’re dust.
Mistakes, forgetfulness and a bit of irresponsibility … who cares when you’ve reached that age of irreverence.
Everything is up for grabs.
Most of my life was before tinternet, when the world went soft on everyone,
.

So I’m definitely old school when it comes to the gnarly stuff. You cope. You get on with it. You make the most.
And if life does get the better of me with a scratch or two on my pride and joy, then it’s no more upsetting than the cold tripe I was given for dinner just after the war. Gimme the scratches any day over life in the trenches.😉
“The Deterrent of Age”.
(October 2025)
Jill and Graham, two great friends of mine and a similar age to me, live in a beautiful part of Spain.
.
We’re ex Raf buddies and Graham and I flew together in various places around the world. Many unrepeatable tales to tell.
Having arrived with a Goldwing I persuaded Jill to relive her misspent youth riding motorbikes in mini skirts with the bad boys. And who knows what footwear.
She loved it. We went looking for Castell de Castells and found it more by luck than judgement. Getting there is a typical bikers adventure in Spain. Ending up on little back streets on a huge bike that you daren’t stop on otherwise its likely to tip over.
As for Jill, it took her right back to nineteen and the thrills of being a biker chick. Right up until we had to get our tired and arthritic hips swung over the seat to dismount. Killed the looks but not the spirit.
“Too Old, Too Late”
Oct 2025
When is too old too old to ride?
The creaking hips, the walking sticks. The aching joints, the “what’s the point?”
Well … the answer is “why not”. Long time dead and all that.
And if it falls on us …
.. If its too heavy to hold up then make sure there’s two of you. If that’s not enough then call in the cavalry, there’s always a someone willing to help couple of geriatrics get a big bike upright.
Once again Jill and I pulled on our thermals and went on an adventure into the Spanish hills and mountains. It didn’t disappoint.
“Lets Go Baby” (To the Kamikazee Corner)
Oct 2025
Another nice day, another chance to get into the mountains.
We were getting more adventurous and over lunch I spotted “The Kamikazee Corner” on Google maps that wasn’t a million miles away.
Jill made the call on this one. Lots of twisty roads to get there. All she had to do was hang on.
We get back three hours late like two naughty children having had the time of our life.

Dearly departed and missed greatly.
He would say …It’s going to happen to us all so make the most while you can.
This is/was my mate Michael.
You didn’t know whether to love him or kill him. Autistic but also human, you wouldn’t know until he started on his theories or prejudices.
Bright, intelligent, funny, loyal. I loved my time with him. So this is a little memory of one of the few days out that we had.

“Kamikazee 2”

We made it to the Kamikazee Corner.
It seemed that every corner was a bit kamikazee

“Go Fugg Yourself”
Jan 2026
After “the tumble” with Sue in the Garaff had gone viral on facebook, with almost a thousand comments, there was a lot to answer to.
Mostly it was about:
1. Me not picking up Sue before I picked the bike up
or
2. Sue not getting up quick enough to help me pick the bike up
I asked Sue what she had to say about the matter. It was short and succinct.

“So here we are”
Jan 2025
Two oldies, walking slowly along the paseo, finding any excuse sit down, not to go out on the bike today, and have a coffee instead.
